PANews December 17 News, on-chain analyst Willy Woo cited Glassnode data indicating that the proportion of Bitcoin transactions using Taproot output types has dropped significantly from a high of 42% in 2024 to approximately 20% currently. Woo stated that this is the first time seeing the latest output format “lose adoption” among users, suspecting that the main reason may be that Taproot has a higher exposure risk to quantum computing, while older SegWit and Legacy formats are less susceptible to quantum attacks.

Last month, Willy Woo said: Bitcoin needs to guard against the threat of quantum computing and recommended migrating to SegWit addresses for safety.
