PANews berichtete am 3. März, dass irakische Ölbeamte sagten, dass das irakische Rumaila-Ölfeld die Rohölproduktion aufgrund der Entspannungen in der Straße von Hormus und der Ankunft von Tankern gekürzt habe, was zu vollen Lagerstätten führte, wodurch die Produktion am Dienstag um 700.000 Barrel pro Tag reduziert wurde. Das Rumaila-Ölfeld, westlich von Basra im Süden des Irak gelegen, ist das größte Ölfeld im Irak und das viertgrößte der Welt. Das Feld verfügt über etwa 17 Milliarden Barrel Rohölreserven.
