The big fire in Hong Kong has caused a lot of pain for many people. I made a small donation, hoping to help the locals. Overall, Hong Kong is a great city, but I still have two bad memories. In fact, some locals in Hong Kong look down on and are exclusionary towards people from the mainland. Let me share my experience:
1. This year, I attended the Bitcoin conference and had lunch with my partner on the first floor of the venue. During the meal, we needed a napkin, and the male server gave us a napkin and also thanked us for dining in their restaurant.
The result was that we got angry. After finishing our meal, we went to pay the bill. When we were checking out, we also needed napkins to wipe our mouths. The waitress said to get napkins from the bathroom. I said we wanted the ones for wiping our mouths.
She said, "Yes, go to the restroom to get a napkin."
This is too much, after spending here, I have to go to the restroom to wipe my mouth!??
Mainly because I still have to go to the venue to meet people in the afternoon, I was too lazy to file a complaint. This service is really disgusting.
Some individuals are extremely exclusionary and look down on people from the mainland.
2. Once, when I was taking the subway, an old man from Hong Kong was crazily elbowing me. In fact, there was plenty of space, and we didn't have any physical contact. At the same time he was elbowing me, he was glaring at me, and I was glaring back at him.
I said, do you have a problem with your arm? If you push me again, I will call the police. He won't push anymore. People like this bully the weak and fear the strong. If you encounter such a person, don't panic and don't directly initiate a conflict; just find the Hong Kong police.
Finally, I hope that our compatriots in Hong Kong are well and can restore their lives soon. May the deceased rest in peace.
