Altcoins are truly heartbreaking. The most commonly used data I mention during lectures is the $OTHERS indicator (excluding the Top 10 coins) to advise everyone to be cautious with Altcoins. The reason is simple: this market is not growing at all.
Looking at the data from the past four years makes it clear. In November 2021, $BTC reached a high of 67K, while the total market cap of Altcoins was 445 billion USD. By April 2024, $BTC had surged to 93K, but the market cap of Altcoins had actually fallen to 375 billion USD.
When the market rises, BTC rises the most fiercely, but the market cap of Altcoins shrinks instead. What does this indicate? Funds are continuously flowing into mainstream coins, and the attractiveness of the Altcoin market is steadily declining. Without sufficient judgment and in-depth research, directly participating in this sector is indeed very risky. The data is right here; if you want to play with Altcoins, you first need to ask yourself whether you truly have enough judgment.
