Walrus's role in the Sui ecosystem is undergoing a transformation—from a simple data storage tool to a value hub connecting the entire Web3 world.

From a technical perspective, it indeed addresses long-standing pain points in the industry. When handling large files, RedStuff's 2D erasure coding technology reduces storage costs to just 2% of traditional solutions, making massive data storage for AI training sets and 4K videos economically feasible. But even more impressive is the Quilt batch storage solution, which can merge hundreds of small files into a single unit—especially suitable for scenarios like NFT metadata and social content. The storage cost for 10KB files can be reduced by 420 times, and retrieval is more efficient since there's no need to unpack the data.

A key innovation is "programmable storage," where Blob data can be directly invoked as resources in Sui's Move smart contracts, transforming data from static cold storage into dynamic resources capable of generating value.

The ecosystem has already seen tangible results. Leading NFT projects like Pudgy Penguins have onboarded, and media platforms such as Decrypt have integrated. Deeper collaborations are underway with AI and Web2 companies—Gata is building a decentralized AI training platform leveraging Walrus, Tusky is creating privacy-first distributed file tools, and 40,000 enterprises worldwide are accessing decentralized storage through Crossmint. From a compliance standpoint, through outbound entity design, cross-border data compliance mechanisms, and KYC systems, Walrus has become a technical solution to combat data black markets.

The tokenomics are also strengthening. Circulating supply accounts for only 29.57% of the total supply. Combined with a deflationary model, storage payment needs, and staking governance, as storage scales to 1.11PB and user base surpasses 105,000, its value capture capability continues to solidify. Amid the simultaneous explosion of data sovereignty and compliance demands, Walrus is no longer just a storage protocol but increasingly a key infrastructure driving the value release of the entire Web3 ecosystem.

Cost reduced by 420 times? I’m a bit overwhelmed by this number. Is it true or not?

Hey, a 420x cost reduction—this number is pretty intense... But can it really be implemented? --- Is the Sui ecosystem about to take off again? Every time it's said, but we still need to see actual user data to speak for itself. --- Programmable storage is indeed innovative. Can the data really turn from cold storage into active assets? Interesting. --- Wait, 40,000 companies are integrating with Crossmint? I haven't heard of this... Is it real? --- Token circulation is less than 30%. This design... feels a bit tight. --- Pudgy Penguins have entered the scene, so there must be something to it. --- They are serious about compliance, fighting against data black markets. Sounds like a battle. --- 1.11PB of storage capacity, 105,000 users... The numbers are good, but what about the growth rate? --- And what is this "critical infrastructure" again? I'm tired of hearing that phrase... Prove yourself. --- RedStuff's 2D erasure coding technology has been cut to 2%. If it can truly be mass-produced, traditional cloud storage will be panicked.

Wow, the cost is directly cut to 2%? If that's true, the imagination for storage needs to be re-evaluated.

Haha, the cost is directly cut to 2%, now that's really competitive A 420x reduction, that feels a bit exaggerated, doesn't it? Pudgy Penguins have all entered the market, indicating the ecosystem is really taking off The circulation volume is only 29.57%, I believe in this deflationary model Really? 40,000 companies have integrated? Blob data is directly used as smart contract resources, this idea is great A black hole for data black industry, sounds reliable Compliance + storage combo punch, this approach is indeed different Wait, 1.11PB is already this large?

420x cost reduction? Man, these numbers are a bit outrageous. We need to see how it performs in practice.

Cutting costs directly to 2%? That's a pretty aggressive number. How it will actually play out still depends on the implementation. Walrus is indeed doing some real work, but where does the figure of 40,000 companies come from... Pudgy Penguins can join in, but can this sustain the ecosystem? With only 30% circulation, it still feels like we need to see whether the subsequent ecosystem can truly scale up.

420x cost reduction? That number sounds like bragging... but if it really can be achieved, the NFT ecosystem folks would be ecstatic.
