Pakistan Voices Concern Over Attacks on Türkiye, Azerbaijan
(MENAFN) Pakistan on Thursday expressed “serious concern” regarding recent attacks targeting Türkiye and Azerbaijan, warning that the incidents could escalate tensions in the region, according to reports.
The Pakistani Foreign Ministry stated that the attacks on the two “brotherly countries” violated international law and the principles governing relations between states. Islamabad reaffirmed its solidarity with both nations and called for “restraint” and the use of diplomacy to preserve regional peace.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also expressed concern in separate messages, saying, “I join the people of Pakistan in expressing complete solidarity with our brave Turkish brothers and sisters, at this challenging time.” He urged “maximum restraint” and emphasized the importance of dialogue to prevent further escalation.
Regarding Azerbaijan, Sharif stated that Pakistan stands firmly with the leadership and citizens of the “brotherly country” and “condemns such deplorable actions that risk further escalation and undermine regional peace and stability.”
Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held talks with his Azerbaijani counterpart Jeyhun Bayramov, where both leaders voiced concern over rising regional tensions and drone attacks targeting Azerbaijan, highlighting the need for de-escalation through diplomatic means.
