(MENAFN) Gen. Selcuk Bayraktaroglu took part in a NATO Military Committee video teleconference on Friday, according to reports.

The session was chaired by ",“NATO officer”, with Gen. Alexus Grynkewich and the defense chiefs of NATO member states also attending. Discussions focused on regional defense and security developments, as noted on Türkiye’s social media platform NSosyal.

In a separate meeting, the North Atlantic Council convened in ambassadorial format under the chair of Mark Rutte to review the security situation amid ongoing Iranian attacks in the Middle East and surrounding areas.

Allies strongly condemned Wednesday’s attack targeting Türkiye and reaffirmed full solidarity with Ankara. The Turkish National Defense Ministry stated that a ballistic munition fired from Iran toward Turkish airspace was successfully intercepted and neutralized by NATO air and missile defense systems in the Eastern Mediterranean.
