Brigadier Juma Salem bin Suwaidan, Director of the General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police, emphasized the need to comply with traffic laws and avoid blocking public roads or residential entrances, noting that residents parking their cars randomly can block access for emergency and ambulance vehicles, leading to accidents and run overs, and put lives at risk.

Ramadan prayer timings

During Ramdan, worshippers pray special Tharaweeh prayers soon after the nightly Isha prayer. During the last ten days of the month, many mosques host Tahajjud prayers at midnight. These days hold special significance, because according to Islamic belief, Laylatul Qadr - the night when the Holy Quran was first sent down - falls during this period. Although the exact date of this is unknown, it is believed to fall during the odd nights of the month. Praying during this night is equivalent to praying for 83 years.

Choose safe locations to pray

When mosques are packed, several of the attendees take to praying outside the mosque or on the street. Brig. bin Suwaidan urged worshippers to choose safe locations for their Taraweeh and Tahajjud prayers during the last ten days of Ramadan, and to avoid praying on streets near mosques to prevent accidents. He stressed the importance of cooperating with traffic officers to ensure a safe and comfortable prayer environment for everyone.

He further stressed that Dubai Police will take legal action against violators in line with traffic regulations, reaffirming the force’s commitment to ensuring road user comfort during Ramadan by managing traffic flow, reducing congestion, organising prayer hall parking, and facilitating safe entry and exit for worshippers.
