The 62nd Munich Security Conference opens
On the 13th local time, the 62nd Munich Security Conference officially opened. Conference Chairman Wolfgang Ischinger delivered a welcome speech at the Bayerischer Hof hotel in Bavaria, Germany. When talking about the United States, Ischinger emphasized that the transatlantic partnership is at a crossroads, and a stronger Europe is needed now, which can only be achieved through unity among European countries. The current task is to jointly carry out a “transatlantic reset.” Ischinger stated that, in the history of the conference, there has never been such a fundamental challenge. He mentioned the “bloody wars” in Europe, its surrounding regions, and even around the world. During this year’s Munich Security Conference, more than a thousand representatives from around the world participated, including over 60 heads of state and government, as well as about 100 foreign ministers and defense ministers.
