On March 11, China National Building Material Group held the launch event for SYT80 (T1200 grade) ultra-high-strength carbon fiber in Beijing. According to reports, China National Building Material’s subsidiary, Sinoma ShenYing, has broken through engineering technology for T1200 grade ultra-high-strength carbon fiber, with a strength exceeding 8,000 MPa. It is the world’s first company capable of mass-producing T1200 grade carbon fiber (hundred-ton level), marking a milestone in China’s new materials field.

According to further information, nearly 30 global partners actively engaged with this launch, covering fields such as aerospace and high-end manufacturing.

On March 11, Sinoma ShenYing’s stock price surged. By the close of trading on March 11, the company’s stock price increased by 14.16%, reaching a nearly one-year high during the trading session.

Applicable in aerospace, deep-sea equipment, and other fields

“In aerospace, deep-sea equipment, high-end manufacturing, and other sectors, SYT80 (T1200 grade) ultra-high-strength carbon fiber can achieve more than 10% weight reduction of structural components. Under the premise of ensuring strength and safety, it significantly improves equipment load capacity, endurance, and operational performance. As the group’s mass production layout advances, material costs are gradually optimized, which can also drive down overall manufacturing costs,” said Zhou Yuxian, Chairman of China National Building Material, at the launch event.

Carbon fiber is known as “black gold” and is a key focus for ensuring supply chain security and supporting economic and social development. The engineering tensile strength of SYT80-12K carbon fiber has surpassed 8,000 MPa, making it the world’s first T1200 grade carbon fiber product to achieve industrialized mass production, reaching industry-leading levels globally.

Zhou Yuxian stated that the large-scale production of SYT80 (T1200 grade) carbon fiber means this top-tier new material will no longer be an “luxury item” in laboratories but will become a “common product” serving global economic development and people’s lives. With its extremely low density and ultra-high strength, it will forge lighter and stronger “wings” for major national projects such as aerospace and defense, making domestically produced large aircraft lighter and safer, improving space launch efficiency, and pushing the boundaries of deep space exploration. It will also provide more reliable “bones” for new energy industries and future industries such as wind turbine blades, hydrogen storage and transportation, low-altitude economy, and embodied intelligence, enabling longer-range electric vehicles, lighter and more durable medical devices, and better sports equipment, thereby solidifying the material foundation for serving global economic growth and people’s well-being.

No country has yet achieved hundred-ton level mass production globally

Chen Qiufei, Director and General Manager of Sinoma ShenYing, explained that, globally, in the field of high-performance carbon fibers at SYT80 (T1200 grade) and above, progress has been made in laboratory research, but large-scale industrialized mass production has not yet been realized.

He noted that some companies in certain countries can produce samples of SYT80 (T1200 grade) ultra-high-strength carbon fiber in laboratories, but due to difficulties in defect control, unstable mass production processes, and high production costs, they have not achieved engineering-scale production of hundreds of tons or more. The achievement of Sinoma ShenYing’s hundred-ton level mass production of SYT80 (T1200 grade) ultra-high-performance carbon fiber represents a significant breakthrough in engineering mass production in this field, establishing a unique international industrialization capability.
