REGULATION | Ghanaian Fintech, Nsano, Expands to East Africa After Acquiring 2 Payment Licenses from Bank of Rwanda
Leading pan-African fintech firm, Nsano Ltd, has expanded its presence in East Africa by launching a regional office in Rwanda.
This milestone follows the company’s approval by the National Bank of Rwanda, granting it Payment Aggregation and Payment Remittances Service Licenses (Category II and III).
Established in Ghana in 2013, Nsano has evolved from a value-added services provider to a technological powerhouse, facilitating seamless digital payments across the continent.
The company’s core services include:
With established regional offices in Ghana, Zambia, Côte d’Ivoire, and the UK, Nsano Ltd has built a strong payment processing presence across more than 30 countries. Now, with the addition of its East Africa wing in Rwanda, the company is further expanding its reach as part of its ambitious growth strategy.
Nsano also holds licenses from:
“We are excited to launch the East African wing of our business in Rwanda. We commend the National Bank of Rwanda for a seamless and transparent process in acquiring our license.
Rwanda represents one of the fastest growing technology hubs in Africa and this aligns perfectly with our mission to be Africa’s premier digital payment processor,” said Priscilla Hazel, CEO of Nsano’s Group.
“As a customer-focused organization, we believe that coverage across the continent is key to giving our customers cross-market synergies that will enable them scale.”
The Nsano Group has made major strides in recent months after announcing a significant partnership in February 2025 with Arab Financial Services (AFS), a leading digital payment solutions provider and fintech enabler in the Middle East and North Africa region (MENA) enabling Nsano to expand its offerings in Africa.
