The White House stated that there is no cancellation risk for the scheduled meeting between President Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping, but it may be postponed. Trump is currently focused on the Iran situation.

Trump plans to visit China from March 31 to April 2. White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt told Fox Business, “I don’t think there’s a risk of cancellation, but the possibility of postponement is indeed high.”

On Sunday, Trump told the Financial Times that he might delay the meeting if China does not help facilitate the Strait of Hormuz.

Regarding Trump’s potential postponement of the China visit, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning previously said that high-level diplomacy plays an irreplaceable strategic role in China-U.S. relations, and both sides are maintaining communication about Trump’s visit to China.

Leavitt said that if the schedule is delayed, the White House will announce a new date soon.

She stated, “As Commander-in-Chief, Trump’s top priority is to ensure the continued success of the Epic Fury operation. He is working around the clock at the White House and domestically. Therefore, we look forward to announcing specific dates soon.”
