Data released on Monday showed that U.S. factory output slightly increased in February, with gains in motor vehicle production offset by weakness in the machinery sector.

The Federal Reserve said that manufacturing output in February rose 0.2% month-over-month, with the January figure revised up to a 0.8% increase.

Economists surveyed by Reuters had previously expected manufacturing output, which accounts for 10.1% of the economy, to grow by 0.1%; the previously reported data for January was a 0.6% increase.

Factory output in February rose 1.3% year-over-year.
