In response to issues regarding five food industry processing aids—“Banleyou,” “Enbowei,” “Shuyuan Kang,” “Baisi Dilefu An,” and “Suchen Weidong”—being sold as infant digestive enzyme products, the Changsha Market Supervision Bureau, Yinzhou District Market Supervision Bureau in Ningbo, and Haicang District Market Supervision Bureau in Xiamen have conducted investigations into the involved companies and products. As of now, all related products have been removed from relevant platforms.

Recently, Beijing News reporters investigated five infant digestive enzyme products—“Banleyou,” “Enbowei,” “Shuyuan Kang,” “Baisi Dilefu An,” and “Suchen Weidong”—and found that these enzyme drops, which claim to help infants digest various foods, are actually classified as “food processing aids” within food additives. According to national standards, merchants are suspected of exceeding the permitted scope of food additive use, and infants consuming such substances face a high risk of allergic reactions. The glycerol content in these products is commonly used as a laxative in clinical settings and can easily cause diarrhea in infants.

On March 15, Beijing News reporters inquired with the market regulation authorities where the companies are registered.

The distributor of “Banleyou” digestive enzymes, Ningbo Banwei Biotechnology Co., Ltd., located in Yinzhou District, Ningbo, stated that investigations into the products and companies are ongoing.

The general distributor of “Enbowei” digestive enzymes, Haimai International Trade (Fujian) Co., Ltd., located in Haicang District, Xiamen, responded to the Beijing News that they attach great importance to the reported issues and are currently investigating and handling the involved companies.

The Changsha Market Supervision Bureau stated that on the night of March 13, after the report was published, market regulation departments at both the city and Yuelu District levels had already conducted inspections of the involved company, Hunan Shuyuan Kang Health Technology Co., Ltd., and had identified some evidence, which is now under further verification.

As of now, the platforms involved have removed the five enzyme products mentioned above.
