On March 5, 2026, BYD held the “Fast Charging China Changes the World” launch event at the Shenzhen Dapeng Sports Center, officially unveiling the second-generation Blade Battery and fast-charging technology. With cutting-edge technology, BYD achieved a new breakthrough in electrification, solving the global challenges of slow charging and difficulty charging at low temperatures during the first half of the electric vehicle era, marking a perfect conclusion to the first half of electrification.

The second-generation Blade Battery set a global mass production fast-charging record: charging from 10% to 70% in just 5 minutes at room temperature, and from 10% to 97% in only 9 minutes; in environments below -30°C, charging from 20% to 97% takes only 3 minutes longer than at room temperature. It breaks the industry contradiction between “fast charging” and “high energy density,” with energy density increased by over 5% compared to the first generation. The Tanx Z9GT equipped with this battery has a range of 1,036 kilometers. Additionally, the battery features an all-temperature intelligent thermal management system to ensure fast charging does not affect lifespan. The warranty policy has been enhanced, offering lifetime warranty on the cells, a 2.5% increase in capacity retention, and passing ultra-new national safety standards, balancing speed, range, lifespan, and safety.

To match the fast charging speed, BYD has developed a new global mass-produced single-pole fast-charging station with a maximum power of 1,500 kW, paired with an energy storage system to break grid limitations. It also adopts the world’s first sliding rail suspension T-shaped design, enabling zero-gravity charging, plug-and-play, and contactless payment, enhancing user experience and social friendliness.

At the launch event, BYD announced the “Fast Charging China” strategy, planning to build 20,000 fast-charging stations nationwide by the end of the year: 18,000 stations in a “station-within-a-station” model in cooperation with operators to achieve 90% coverage of urban areas within 5 kilometers; 2,000 high-speed fast-charging stations covering nearly one-third of highway service areas, with the first 1,000 stations expected to be completed before May Day. Car owners with second-generation Blade Battery vehicles will enjoy one year of free fast charging, with subsequent charges aligned with industry standards.

BYD’s core mission is the “Three Green Dreams.” This technological release once again embodies the philosophy of “changing the world with technology.” Looking ahead, BYD plans to expand the scale of fast-charging stations overseas by the end of 2026, moving from Fast Charging China to Fast Charging Planet, supporting global electrification and driving the new energy vehicle industry into the fast-charging era.
