Beijing, February 23 — According to data released by the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, during the 2026 Spring Festival holiday (February 15-23), Beijing received a total of 19.84 million visitors, with total tourism expenditure reaching 33.14 billion yuan (RMB).
During the holiday, the Beijing Bureau of Culture and Tourism coordinated with various districts and departments to revitalize traditional festive customs through technology, warmly welcoming domestic and international tourists. The top ten most visited scenic spots (areas) during the holiday were Wangfujing, Olympic Park, Tiananmen area, Xidan, Liangma River International Style Waterfront, Qianmen Street, Temple of Heaven Park, Shichahai Scenic Area, Summer Palace, and Nanluoguxiang.
The “Beijing Flavor Fireworks” sparked a holiday craze. During the Spring Festival, Beijing hosted over 40 temple fairs, lantern festivals, and garden parties, blending traditional Spring Festival customs with technological experiences, setting new records in both quantity and scale. The Longfu Temple Spring Market became the top attraction, with products like Yili bread and Daoxiang Village pastries highly popular among consumers. Traditional temple fairs such as Ditan Temple Fair, Longtan Temple Fair, and Chadian Temple Fair remained popular, offering folk performances and specialty markets. Additionally, Haidian’s Spring Technology Temple Fair showcased various robots, providing an “AI New Year” experience.
A mutual celebration of the Chinese New Year. On February 16, Lunar New Year’s Eve, the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism held a welcoming event at Beijing Capital International Airport, giving New Year gift packs to travelers arriving on Air China flight CA938. The “Moscow Winter Festival” was held at Beijing Chaoyang Park during the holiday, and simultaneously, the “Happy Spring Festival” event took place in Moscow, achieving a cultural exchange of “mutual efforts” between sister cities.
During the Spring Festival holiday, the city hosted a total of 2,190 commercial performances, attracting approximately 410,000 spectators and generating about 64.015 million yuan in box office revenue. The National Centre for the Performing Arts, Beijing Symphony Orchestra, and Beijing Peking Opera Theatre held New Year-themed concerts and performances; performances from Russia’s Leningrad State Symphony Orchestra, the drama “Under the Red Flag,” and the dance drama “Only This Green” were also staged consecutively.
