Caixin March 22 — During the China Development High-Level Forum 2026 Annual Conference held at Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in Beijing, Zheng Yi, President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai, stated that while the U.S. pursues “America First” and withdraws from diplomatic engagement, he hopes China will further “stand up” and play a more constructive role in the global economic system.

Zheng Yi told Caixin that compared to last year, this year’s high-level development forum has attracted more representatives from multinational companies, including U.S. firms, who are using this opportunity to reassess the Chinese market.

Zheng Yi said that the two sessions just concluded, and this year marks the start of the 14th Five-Year Plan. For U.S. companies, this is an excellent time to evaluate the Chinese market and formulate plans for the next stage.
