New Technology Better Reveals Protein-RNA Interactions
Stockholm News: Karolinska Institute in Sweden recently issued a press release stating that researchers at the institute have developed a new technique that better reveals the interactions between proteins and RNA. This provides a new tool for studying the mechanisms of diseases such as cancer. According to the release, RNA is an important molecule that transmits genetic instructions within cells. Its interaction with proteins affects gene expression and related physiological activities. For a long time, existing techniques for analyzing these interactions have had limitations, such as not providing a comprehensive picture. Researchers at Karolinska Institute published a paper in the international journal Nucleic Acids Research stating that they have developed a method called RAPseq, which can systematically analyze how RNA binds to proteins, including interactions with some proteins that were previously less understood and their related physiological functions. The researchers said this technique helps to more clearly observe the transmission and utilization of genetic information within cells and aids in understanding how diseases form when these processes go awry. The study found that gene mutations related to cancer can alter the way certain proteins bind to RNA, so this technique is expected to be useful in researching the mechanisms of related cancers.
