NIO surges 10%, achieves profitability for the first time in a quarter! Bank stocks rebound, Citigroup rises 3.4% at one point; international oil prices plummet, Bitcoin breaks through $70,000

The three major U.S. stock indices opened mixed. The Nasdaq rose 0.1%, the Dow fell 0.05%, and the S&P 500 declined 0.05%.

As of the report, the Nasdaq decreased 0.02%, the Dow dropped 0.47%, and the S&P 500 fell 0.31%.

In terms of sectors, non-ferrous metals, automobiles and parts, coal, and banking stocks led gains. Home appliance stocks saw the biggest declines.

Among the Big Seven tech giants, Tesla and Facebook rose over 1%, while Nvidia and Microsoft fell 0.2%.

Bank stocks rebounded, with Citigroup’s stock price rising as much as 3.4%, the largest increase since February 25. As of the report, Citigroup was up 2.83%, Lloyd’s and Barclays Bank rose over 2%, Morgan Stanley, Deutsche Bank, and Jefferies gained over 1%.

Oil stocks declined, with ConocoPhillips, ExxonMobil, and Chevron falling over 1%.

Mining stocks strengthened, with Coeur Mining up over 4%, Aethon Gold and Hecla Mining up over 3%, and Pan American Silver up over 2%.

Optical communication stocks generally gained strength, with AAOI up over 10%, Lumentum up over 9%, and Corning up over 4%.

The Livermore Chinese concept stock leader index opened up 1%. Among its components, JinkoSolar rose over 10%, Yuchai International and Century Internet increased over 4%.

NIO’s U.S. stock price surged to a 10% increase. News reports indicate that NIO achieved an operating profit of 1.25 billion yuan in Q4, marking the company’s first quarterly profit.

In precious metals, spot gold briefly surpassed the $5,200 mark. As of the report, spot gold rose 1.23% to $5,197.144 per ounce; spot silver increased 1.66% to $88.423 per ounce.

Regarding international oil prices, WTI crude oil futures and Brent crude oil futures both fell over 7%, at $87.87 per barrel and $91.32 per barrel, respectively.

In cryptocurrencies, Bitcoin rose 2.5%, breaking above $70,000; Ethereum increased 2.3%.
