On the 21st local time, the 10th Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) was held in Bogotá, Colombia, the rotating chair country. About 30 Latin American heads of state, government leaders, and representatives attended the summit. The summit adopted the Bogotá Declaration, expressing firm commitment to regional integration, strengthening CELAC as a core space for political dialogue, consultation, and cooperation in the region, and enhancing the collective influence of Latin America on the global agenda. The declaration reaffirmed the commitment to the “Declaration of Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace” and expressed concern over threats or use of force that violate the UN Charter.

The declaration noted that member countries participating in the 4th Ministerial Meeting of the China-CELAC Forum highly evaluated its successful convening and believed that the “Joint Action Plan for Key Areas of Cooperation among China and CELAC Member Countries (2025–2027)” provided guidance for strengthening political dialogue, South-South cooperation, and mutual understanding. In response to current severe challenges, the declaration proposed to deepen regional cooperation in areas such as combating transnational criminal organizations, food security, health self-sufficiency, and energy integration.

During the summit, Uruguay took over the rotating chair of CELAC for 2026–2027. (Xinhua)
