Three Departments Deploy Further Standardization of New Energy Vehicle Industry Competition Order

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the National Development and Reform Commission, and the State Administration for Market Regulation recently held a symposium with new energy vehicle industry companies to further standardize competition in the new energy vehicle industry, enhance industry innovation capabilities, expand automobile consumption, and optimize industry management. Representatives from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers and 17 key automotive companies attended the meeting.

The meeting called for strengthening departmental coordination, reinforcing innovation-driven development, and continuously promoting high-quality industry growth. Specific measures include consolidating and deepening efforts to regulate industry competition, strengthening price monitoring and cost investigations, researching and standardizing automotive financial policies, normalizing and institutionalizing efforts to address industry network chaos, and urging companies to strictly implement the 60-day payment cycle commitment.

Additionally, the meeting emphasized implementing a new round of high-quality development actions for key industrial chains, accelerating efforts to address shortfalls in automotive chips and basic software, promoting expanded application scales, and iteratively improving quality and performance. It also called for speeding up breakthroughs in autonomous driving technology, optimizing access pilot procedures, accelerating the formulation of relevant standards, and creating favorable conditions for large-scale mass production.

Furthermore, the meeting outlined plans to deepen the implementation of special actions to boost consumption, solidify the promotion of used car replacements, promote large-scale application of new energy heavy trucks, develop and release policy documents to support the healthy development of the automotive modification market, and fully stimulate market consumption potential. It also aims to improve financial and credit services, strengthen international logistics and transportation support, and support auto exports and overseas development.

In terms of improving the institutional system, the meeting pointed out the need to accelerate the legislative process for the “Regulations on the Access Management of Motor Vehicle Production,” establish a sound, open, scientific, and efficient governance system for the automotive industry, strengthen risk identification, strictly control product access, enhance supervision of production consistency, and safeguard product quality and safety.
