The Hainan Free Trade Port officially launched its island-wide customs closure operation on December 18, 2025, and will reach its 100-day closure milestone on March 27 this year.
On March 22, the “Port Linkage and Integrated Development—2026 Port Cooperation Exchange Conference” was held in Haikou, Hainan, supported by the China (Hainan) Reform and Development Research Institute and Guangdong Publishing Group, organized by the Hainan Free Trade Port Research Institute and Southern Publishing Media.

Wang Bin, a member of the Standing Committee of the Hainan Provincial Party Committee and Minister of Propaganda, mentioned at the meeting that from the start of the island-wide customs closure until February this year, Hainan’s enterprises’ import and export trade reached 65.49 billion yuan, a 29.1% increase year-on-year, with exports of 26.84 billion yuan, up 55.4%, and imports of 38.65 billion yuan, up 15.5%. Additionally, 47,900 new business entities were established, a 30.15% increase year-on-year. The “zero tariff” policy for daily consumer goods within the island has been implemented since February 11 this year. The off-island duty-free sales volume increased by 30.9% year-on-year, showing vigorous growth.
