South Korean prosecutors raided Rainbow Robotics, a robotics platform company under Samsung Electronics, on Wednesday, suspecting insider trading by its executives and employees.

Investigators from the Seoul Southern District Prosecutors’ Office visited the company’s headquarters in Daejeon, where Rainbow Robotics is listed on the KOSDAQ, to search for evidence related to the suspected insider trading.

Last month, South Korea’s financial regulators asked prosecutors to investigate Rainbow Robotics for allegedly profiting billions of won through illegal insider trading during its merger into Samsung Electronics as a subsidiary. The charges involve 16 individuals, including two executives of Rainbow Robotics.

They are suspected of making 3 to 4 billion won (approximately $2 million) in profits from illegal stock trades between 2022 and 2024. Samsung Electronics acquired a majority stake in Rainbow Robotics in 2024.

Reports indicate that the scope of the raid also included the residences of Rainbow Robotics executives and Samsung’s campus in Suwon.
