A US federal judge has partially certified a class-action lawsuit against Boeing, allowing shareholders who purchased stock between November 7, 2018, and October 18, 2019, to sue the company as a group. The lawsuit alleges that Boeing made misleading statements about the safety of its 737 MAX aircraft and artificially inflated its stock following two fatal crashes in 2018 and 2019. Despite dismissing claims against former CFO Gregory Smith, the suit continues against former CEO Dennis Muilenburg, focusing on allegations that Boeing misled investors and regulators about the MCAS system and certification process.
