Sources say Unilever is in talks to spin off its food business and merge it with spice maker McCormick. The deal is expected to be all-stock and could be finalized within a few weeks.

Currently, consumer goods companies are facing weakened demand for packaged foods amid uncertain economic conditions. Earlier this week, reports indicated that Unilever was considering a broader divestment of its food assets.
