(MENAFN) Iran has launched a new round of ballistic missiles targeting Qatar’s Ras Laffan Industrial City, which hosts a major liquefied natural gas hub, according to Qatar’s Defense Ministry on Thursday.

The ministry stated that the missiles impacted the facility and resulted in damage, as shared in an update posted on social media.

In a separate announcement, QatarEnergy reported that several of its liquefied natural gas installations were struck in the early hours of Thursday, leading to significant fires and considerable structural damage.

The company added that emergency response teams were quickly dispatched to manage the situation, noting that no casualties were reported.

Reports also indicate that QatarEnergy had previously confirmed a missile attack on Ras Laffan Industrial City on Wednesday, the country’s primary LNG production center.

The incident comes amid escalating regional tensions following the US-Israeli military offensive against Iran that began on February 28, which has reportedly resulted in around 1,300 deaths, including senior figures.

In response, Iran has launched drone and missile attacks targeting Israel, as well as Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries hosting US military forces.
