#AsteraLabs领涨芯片股 When "Connectors" Become Scarcer Than "Computing Power": The Logic Behind Astera Labs Leading Chip Stocks
On June 29, US chip stocks staged a dramatic "deep V" reversal—the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index initially fell over 3% at the open, but closed up 3.83%. The leader was not Nvidia, but a company founded just nine years ago: Astera Labs (ALAB) surged 16.39% in a single day.
Who is Astera Labs? It doesn't make CPUs or GPUs, but focuses on interconnect technology for AI infrastructure—solving data transmission bottlenecks between chips in data centers, known in the industry as the "data highway" of the AI era. As the computing power arms race intensifies, data transmission efficiency has become a bottleneck, and the value of "connectors" is being repriced by the market.
The surge was driven by multiple catalysts: the company was just added to the Nasdaq 100 Index on June 22, triggering passive fund buying demand; fundamentals are solid with quarterly revenue up 93% year-over-year and gross margins at 76.3%. More critically, UBS released a research report on the same day, pointing out that CXL interconnect technology is entering an "inflection point," with the market size expected to approach $70-10B by 2030, and significantly raised its price target for Astera Labs. FactSet data shows that 21 analysts have raised the median price target from $260 to $270.
However, high growth comes with high valuations. The stock has risen over 150% year-to-date, with forward P/E ratios exceeding 100 times. Yang Delong, chief economist at First Seafront Fund, bluntly stated: "The AI tech bubble is still in a frenzy." As market sentiment shifts from computing power to interconnectivity, Astera Labs has caught the wave—but the sword of high valuations hanging overhead cannot be ignored.
