Polygon Community Proposal to Introduce Priority Fee Base Reward Mechanism to Balance Validator Income Disparity

POL2,62%

Gate News: On March 20, the Polygon community proposed a Base Reward allocation proposal aimed at balancing income disparities among validators of different sizes. The proposal suggests extracting a fixed reward from the fee pool and evenly distributing it to all performance-compliant validators before proportional distribution. According to simulation data, this mechanism would reduce the fee income of large validators by about 11%, but ensure that small and medium validators achieve break-even, thereby enhancing network decentralization by addressing “horizontal inequality” among validators. The proposal notes that currently, priority fees are fully distributed based on staking proportion, resulting in approximately 66% of validators unable to cover their monthly infrastructure costs of 8,523 POL (about $929), with the top 5 validators accounting for 42.1% of total fees.
