Gate News reports that on March 24, Beam CEO Alex Stephany responded to Palantir CEO Alex Karp’s prediction that AI will weaken the economic status of workers with humanities backgrounds, stating that this is essentially a subjective choice rather than an unavoidable outcome. Stephany noted that despite rapid AI development generating enormous wealth, the U.S. unemployment rate has hit a four-year high, and the wealth gap continues to widen. Technological progress does not necessarily equate to social progress. He believes AI should prioritize serving fields with severe labor shortages, such as healthcare, social services, and infrastructure, improving efficiency while avoiding large-scale worker displacement. Additionally, AI tools should be developed in collaboration with frontline workers rather than in a one-way manner. Stephany urged industry leaders to stop predicting who will be left behind by the times and instead actively decide who will be uplifted by technology.
