⚠️🚨🔔 WARNING: "SCAMMERS" IN CRYPTO COMMUNITIES. MY REAL STORY THAT CAN HAPPEN TO ANYONE. In today's crypto space, user security depends not only on platforms or technologies but also on the attentiveness of each individual. Fraudsters are becoming increasingly inventive, disguising themselves as official representatives and seizing any opportunity to take your funds. Recently, I personally encountered such a situation and want to share my experience to protect others.
How it all started. I received a message from a person who introduced themselves as "Rosa" — supposedly an assistant from our official chat, where I learn, can say I work and communicate with other community members. Here is the original text of the message I received: «Hello mate. This is a rose assigned to assist you from the group chat of Gate exchange, what's the issue with my wallet and I hope this message finds you well! I wanted to check in and see if you have received your 50% bonus reward yet».
At first glance - a usual message from technical support or an administrator. But I knew an important rule: real administrators or assistants ( if they have any ) never write to users in private messages first.
All appeals to them are made by the user themselves, and only in the case of winning a competition, participating in a marathon, or other activities when a UID needs to be provided to receive rewards. So this situation immediately seemed suspicious to me.
The verification that clarified everything. To be sure, I reached out to a colleague from the English-speaking chat and asked whether the bot or assistant could reach out privately. The response was quick and unequivocal: "Rose does not send dm to someone. Please be careful. Scammer. Please don't answer. Block them. Rose is a bot only active on group. Cannot send dm. Scammer.
It turned out that "Rosa" is a real bot, but it only functions in group chat and does not have the capability to send private messages. Therefore, I received a message from an outsider who used the bot's name to pose as an official representative.
My colleague immediately warned: this is a scam.
I have unhesitatingly blocked this account to prevent the scammer from having the opportunity to continue attempts to contact or influence.
Why is this dangerous? Fraudsters in cryptocurrency communities use several typical tricks: ♦️ pretend to be administrators, moderators, or bots; ♦️ offer "bonuses", "rewards", "gifts"; ♦️ are attempting to lure private data; ♦️ send harmful links or instructions; ♦️ create a sense of urgency so that people act without thinking. All this is for one thing - to gain access to your wallet or to force you to transfer funds yourself.
The responsibility is always on the user! It is important to understand: if you have transferred funds or given a scammer access to your wallet, the platform will not be able to help you. Cryptocurrency transactions are irreversible, and user errors are non-refundable. That is why caution is your primary defense.
My advice that can save your funds: 1⃣ Never trust messages from people who message first. 2⃣ Check any information with moderators or official representatives. 3⃣ Never click on suspicious links. 4⃣ Do not enter wallet data on unknown resources. 5⃣ Do not share your private keys or codes with anyone. Always clarify everything twice, three times, or even a hundred times. I stopped in time and checked the information - and this is what saved me. But not everyone can recognize danger at first glance.
Conclusion: In my case, everything turned out fine because I recognized the fraud in time and blocked the dangerous account. But a similar situation can happen to anyone. I want my warning to help others.
Remember: where there is money, there are always dishonest individuals. Be careful, do not trust strangers and protect your funds.
