Ethereum-based decentralized derivatives exchange Lighter(Lighter) is entering the spot trading market. Lighter has started ETH spot trading and plans to further expand its markets in the future.
After launching a private beta in January this year, Lighter went public with its mainnet in October and has been expanding rapidly. Its trading volume in October reached $27.25 billion, on par with its competitors. In November, it recorded a trading volume of $29.25 billion, establishing itself as the most active on-chain derivatives protocol.
At the end of November, Lighter announced the introduction of spot trading while collecting feedback from testnet users.
Lighter is built on an Ethereum application-specific ZK rollup(zk-rollup). The founder of Lighter stated that they focused on Ethereum Layer 2 instead of Layer 1 to enhance security.
