“Living in the present” is not about not thinking, but about transforming thinking into a tool rather than the master!
🍂 really loves this scene of autumn and winter!
The best part of this season is not the colors, but the rhythm.
The trees are slowly letting go, The roads are quietly extending, Nothing needs to be hurried,
Some answers, Will only appear when we are “walking.”
After the 10KCLUB is built, Besides the daily check-in of walking ten thousand steps, And everyone sharing investment insights, What I like most is each person’s walking process, And the beautiful scenery they capture.
Many wonderful things, And enlightening ideas, Happen inadvertently, While walking.
A book I listened to today while walking: “The Power of Now” This book requires careful reading and understanding, It gave me a very sharp and effective reminder: Much of the pain actually comes from the mind’s inability to stop: A kind of “compulsive thinking” noise.
Have you ever wondered, Most of the time, It’s not that we lack “thinking ability,” But that we are on “automatic pilot.” In simple terms, it’s easy to daydream.
There is a very key perspective in the book: For life, The only truly happening moment is this moment.
The past appears in the present as “memory,” The future appears in the present as “imagination/worry.” The problem is not in memory or planning itself, But in whether I am unconsciously swallowed by them, And unable to live in the present!
What’s more valuable is, This book provides methods for deliberate practice,
Practice A: Observe thoughts (loosen the “I=thoughts”) Practice B: Return to feelings (ground your attention)
Regarding investing: I find that the most energy-consuming part, Is not thinking itself, But the internal friction when switching between tasks.
In relationships: That phrase in the book, “No attacking, no defending, no analyzing,” Is especially useful to me— When I can return to the present first during conflicts, Many conversations won’t slide into “who is right or wrong,” But will focus on “how we can be better together.”
What moved me most about this book is not metaphysics, But a very simple answer: Take back the power of choice from automatic reactions.
When I can “see” thoughts as they come, “Allow” emotions as they arrive, “Be present before communicating” in relationships, Life won’t instantly become easier, But it will become clearer and more powerful.
Just like in this beautiful scene of the present moment, I only look at the scenery, And no longer think about other things!
