Italy's regulator halts Meta's AI chatbot restriction order, EU follows up with investigation

Abstract generation in progress

【Crypto World】Recently, there has been an interesting development worth paying attention to—the Italian Competition Authority has halted a restriction imposed by Meta on WhatsApp business tools. What is the restriction? It is a policy that bans companies from accessing third-party AI chatbots.

The regulatory body’s logic is very clear: such actions could constitute market abuse and harm competition. To put it more plainly, this policy, originally scheduled to be implemented in January, is actually blocking new entrants into the AI chatbot field. Services from companies like OpenAI and Perplexity are restricted, and the development space for new technologies is being squeezed.

Interestingly, the European Commission is now also investigating this matter separately. It seems that major platforms using their dominance to limit competitors are increasingly attracting the attention of regulators.

Meta wants to play the monopoly game again, but luckily regulators finally have their eyes open.

Fortunately, Italy wasn't fooled, and Meta's tricks are becoming harder and harder to deceive. OpenAI and Perplexity can finally breathe a sigh of relief, otherwise they'd be stuck in WhatsApp again. Regulators have finally woken up; the monopoly tactics of big tech companies definitely need to be regulated. It seems the EU is really getting desperate this time, step by step forcing Meta to give an account. That's why I don't trust any one company to control all traffic entry points. Once again, Meta is causing trouble. How are the plans for January going? Competitive position determines everything. With power, they want to use it to block others.

Ha, does Meta want to dominate again? It should have been regulated long ago. --- Now OpenAI has a chance. Looking forward to the subsequent building opportunities. --- Regulation finally has some sense. Are the big companies ending their ban on small players? --- Blocking third-party access? Do they really think they are emperors? No wonder they are being targeted by the EU. --- Wait, is this a signal that benefits certain AI tokens? --- Meta's tactics are so familiar to me. The crypto world has been exploited like this before. --- Competition is the only way to drive technology forward. Monopolies will only cause the market to decay. --- Having regulatory constraints is better than laissez-faire; at least the ecosystem still has hope.

Haha, Meta is trying to monopolize again, and this time they've finally been caught. The old trick of big companies harvesting retail investors, the EU is serious this time. Blocking OpenAI is essentially cutting into the entire ecosystem's meat. Regulators are finally starting to have some sense, but generally speaking... big companies just pay a fine and it's over. How long can this anti-monopoly drama last? That's a question mark for now.

Meta is back to its old monopoly tricks. Luckily, regulators haven't fallen asleep this time. --- OpenAI and Perplexity are hitting a bottleneck. That's the real competition issue. --- Italy responded so quickly? The EU following up is even more interesting. It seems big tech companies' days are numbered. --- Blocking new entrants, Meta's move is too obvious. No wonder it was halted. --- Being big means you can do whatever you want? Someone is finally taking action this time. --- WhatsApp's move was well-calculated, but it was deservedly exposed. --- EU investigation + Italy's halt, Meta might suffer losses this time. --- Really, big platforms always resort to monopolies. It needs to be addressed. --- The AI race was already intense, and Meta's interference is just unfair. --- Finally, someone dares to confront Meta. Regulations are finally waking up.
