This week's performance of spot BTC ETFs is quite interesting — overall, there was a net outflow of $825 million this week. Among them, products from leading institutions were the most active, with a single-day outflow of $91.37 million, and traditional Grayscale funds also followed suit, with a weekly outflow of $24.62 million.
Why is this happening? Analysts have provided an answer: the year-end Tax Loss Harvesting is coming. Simply put, institutions and high-net-worth investors are locking in losses before the end of the year to offset taxes, which is a common practice at year-end. It is expected that this outflow pressure will ease next week.
Looking at the broader market, BTC is currently priced at $87,500, and the total assets under management (AUM) of spot ETFs still exceed $113.8 billion. More notably, from the beginning of the year to now (YTD), these products have accumulated a net inflow of $56.9 billion — indicating that institutional enthusiasm for allocation remains strong throughout the year.
Interestingly, buyers from Asia are gradually becoming the main force in taking positions, which may serve as a stabilizer in upcoming trading sessions.

Oh wow, I just realized the Tax Loss Harvesting trick again. If it's the same every year, how can I still get caught?
Asian buyers stepping in? I just want to see how long this stability can last this time.
Over 800 million in outflows sounds scary, but with 56.9 billion YTD net inflow sitting right here, it's a bit of a face slap.
Gray scale following along? This big guy also has to pay taxes, haha.
87,500 already? I was still shouting that the bottom was here just last year.

Tax loss harvesting is played every year; institutions are this shrewd... But Asian buyers are really taking over, and it will go up again then.

Tax loss harvesting this move happens every year, get used to it. A rebound should happen next week.
Grayscale is really selling off, but Asian buyers are already in position.
A net inflow of 56.9 billion indicates that institutions are still optimistic. Don't be scared by the short-term outflows.
This is just a routine year-end operation; just endure it.
Institutions are doing tax harvesting, while we are bottom-fishing. Everyone does what they need to do.
