U.S. LAWMAKER PROPOSES BILL TO BAN OFFICIALS FROM USING PREDICTION MARKETS FOR “INSIDER TRADING”
According to The Block, U.S. Representative Ritchie Torres plans to introduce the Financial #Prediction Markets Public Integrity Act of 2026, which would prohibit federal officials from participating in political prediction markets while in possession of material nonpublic information.
The proposal follows concerns raised after a #Polymarket account bet on the removal of Nicolás Maduro ahead of a U.S. military raid, turning $32,500 into over $400,000. The incident fueled fears of insider trading. Total prediction market trading volume reached $44 billion in 2025.
