Growing up is a process of gradually seeing and understanding oneself. This is a very happy thing.
Recently, I have come to understand many things—my personality, preferences, habits—and ultimately, these have pushed me toward personal investing, trading cryptocurrencies, and mining.
I enjoy quietness. Since I was a child, I would hide alone in my room, playing with toys and talking to myself all day. To be blunt, I might have some social anxiety.
As I grew up and started working, I was especially afraid of meetings. My first job ended because I was criticized by senior leaders during a meeting and felt very upset, leading me to resign. My second job also involved frequent meetings with superiors and subordinates after reaching middle or senior management, which made me feel overwhelmed. I couldn’t sleep every day and chose to leave voluntarily.
Looking back now, I realize that fundamentally, I am not very willing to cooperate with others or spend energy convincing people. Every time I need to listen to others’ advice to do something, I feel very distressed.
During nearly ten years of work experience after graduation, I have always believed: if I can do something myself, I shouldn’t trouble others. If I can solve a problem with money, I shouldn’t seek help from others.
In the process of working on projects, I prefer to find suppliers rather than collaborate with colleagues.
Additionally, recalling my childhood, the most exciting thing was discovering niche and obscure music and movies. Back then, every time I found new music or movies on Google Music or Douban, I would feel very excited. Looking back now, isn’t that just like my current cryptocurrency investing—scanning coins and chains nonstop every day?
Reflecting on these personality traits and habits, it’s destined that I would eventually move into the industry I am in now. I finally found my passion and comfort zone.
I also hope my children can understand themselves earlier than I did and live as their true selves. Maybe Dad has social anxiety, but he might actually be a social butterfly. 😂
