Mexiko hat Google wegen der Umbenennung des "Golf von Mexiko" verklagt.

Am 10. Mai Ortszeit gab der mexikanische Präsident Hinbaum bekannt, dass das Land Google offiziell verklagt hat, weil es im Dienst Google Maps für amerikanische Nutzer den “Golf von Mexiko” in “Golf von Amerika” umbenannt hat. Herr Sheinbaum sagte, dass die Einreichungsunterlagen eingereicht worden seien, gab aber nicht bekannt, welche Institution das Gericht wann hatte. Am 20. Januar dieses Jahres unterzeichnete US-Präsident Donald Trump eine Verordnung, mit der der “Golf von Mexiko” in “Golf von Amerika” umbenannt wurde. Der mexikanische Präsident Sheinbaum reagierte und sprach sich dagegen aus: Der Name “Golf von Mexiko” sei seit langem von den Vereinten Nationen anerkannt.
