441 Large Vessels Gather Outside Strait of Hormuz as U.S.-Iran Negotiations on Navigation Remain Uncertain

According to satellite data, on June 22, approximately 441 large vessels gathered near Sohar, Oman, and Fujairah, United Arab Emirates, outside the Strait of Hormuz, as shipping remains uncertain amid ongoing U.S.-Iran negotiations over corridor reopening and ceasefire mechanisms. The European Space Agency's Sentinel-1 radar satellite confirmed the vessel concentration increased from April's initial conflict escalation. While the U.S. has lifted some restrictions and four Qatari liquefied natural gas tankers transited the strait on Monday, the main shipping lane remains largely halted pending diplomatic resolution. Both sides continue talks in Switzerland over conflict de-escalation and maritime safety arrangements.
