The frequent accidents involving the “Osprey” transport aircraft have sparked strong opposition from the Japanese public to the U.S. Navy’s deployment plan at Iwakuni Base. Last month, some civilian groups in Iwakuni City held a protest rally calling for the withdrawal of this plan.
