According to BC Card's communications head Kim Hee-jung, on July 15, the company emphasized that cross-border payment infrastructure connectivity is more critical than digital assets themselves in the stablecoin era. Speaking at the 'Ethiopia x K-Digital Connect 2026' forum in Seoul, Kim highlighted BC Card's strategy to connect international payment networks, noting that each country should strengthen its own payment infrastructure and link them together.
BC Card currently operates direct digital payment connections with multiple countries, including Taiwan, Malaysia, and Indonesia. In Indonesia, BC Card established MTI, a payment processing specialist joint venture with state-owned Bank Mandiri, which now serves 16 or more financial institutions and fintech companies. The company is also expanding cross-border payment connections, allowing Taiwan users to transact at Korean merchants using local payment apps, and enabling BC Card customers to use local payment services overseas.
