Binance Withdraws Greek MiCA License Application, Suspends EU Services Before July 1 Deadline

Binance's head of Europe and the U.K. said last week the exchange withdrew its MiCA license application in Greece after months of regulatory discussions, forcing the company to suspend services and stop new registrations across several EU countries. The withdrawal came after board meetings were repeatedly postponed despite Binance being told in April that its application was complete. Users were notified less than 10 days before the July 1 deadline, shorter than the company's typical 30-day notice period. Gillian Lynch, Binance's head of Europe, said the company has invested over $300 million annually in compliance and employs more than 1,500 compliance staff globally. Lynch stated Binance remains committed to Europe and operating under regulatory supervision, describing the licensing setback as "an obstacle in our way at the moment."
