Bitpay Wins AFM MiCA Authorization to Offer Regulated Crypto Payments Across 27 EU Countries on July 16

The Dutch Authority for the Financial Markets authorized Bitpay B.V. as a crypto-asset service provider (CASP) on July 16, according to an official company announcement. The approval enables Bitpay to offer regulated cryptocurrency payment services across all 27 EU member states, including payment processing, stablecoin-denominated transactions, cross-border transfers, and consumer spending tools. The MiCA license consolidates Bitpay's regulatory standing under a single EU framework rather than requiring separate approvals for each national market. Bitpay stated it will expand European operations and partnerships under the authorization, building on its 15-year history in cryptocurrency payments.
