According to analysis from Milk Road AI, Changhong Memory's global DRAM market share jumped from less than 4% to approximately 7.7%-8% in the past year, with first-quarter 2026 revenue reaching 50.8 billion yuan, up 719% year-over-year. The surge was driven by Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron shifting production capacity toward AI server memory, particularly HBM, creating supply gaps in traditional DDR5 and LPDDR5 markets that Changhong filled.
However, Changhong's current monthly wafer capacity of approximately 29,000-32,000 units remains significantly below Samsung's ~63,000 units and SK Hynix's ~50,000 units. U.S. export restrictions on advanced lithography equipment also constrain its expansion. The analyst notes that Changhong cannot yet enter the lucrative HBM market, limiting its ability to reshape the overall AI memory supply dynamics.
