According to investment banking industry sources, CJ CheilJedang is advancing the divestiture of its starch sugar business today, having selected Samjong KPMG as lead advisor. The company is considering a carve-out structure, separating the business unit as a standalone entity. The starch sugar operation, which generated approximately 100 billion Korean won in annual revenue, holds a 12–13% market share in South Korea's starch sugar sector, ranked 4th–5th among four dominant players including Daesang and Sajo CPK.
