Crypto Lobby Groups Press Congress to Pass H.R. 9175 Staking Tax Bill Without Amendments in June

Three major U.S. crypto lobby groups—the Blockchain Association, Crypto Council for Innovation, and The Digital Chamber—sent a joint letter in June 2026 to House Ways and Means Committee leaders calling for the Tax Clarity for Mining and Staking Act (H.R. 9175) to pass without further amendments. The bill would allow miners and stakers to defer taxes on crypto rewards until assets are sold. However, Democratic Representative Steven Horsford filed an amendment capping the deferral period at five years, which industry leaders argue would undermine the legislation's core intent.
