ETH drops 0.75% in 15 minutes: large selling pressure combined with ETF outflows trigger short-term sell-off

ETH0.93%

June 26, 2026, 14:30-14:45 UTC, ETH/USDT fell 0.75% in 15 minutes, with a price range of 1555.24 to 1571.32 USDT and a volatility of 1.02%. The price approached a key technical support zone, with the market in extreme fear and volatility notably amplified.

The main drivers of this movement were the concentrated selling by large holders and the continued net outflows from spot ETFs. On-chain data shows that on June 26, a major exchange recorded four large transfers exceeding 2,800 ETH each, with a net sell-side difference of approximately 986 ETH (about $1.54 million). Large ETH transfers into exchange wallets are typically seen as a signal of seller liquidity preparation. Meanwhile, U.S. Ethereum spot ETFs saw total outflows exceeding $42 million on June 17-18, extending the previous 17-day institutional redemption wave. On-chain selling pressure will take time to digest.

Second, the breakdown of technical support levels further amplified sell-side momentum. The price is currently testing the key support zone of $1650-$1700. If it breaks down, it could fall to $1520 and $1405 levels. The technical breakdown triggered stop-loss orders from algorithmic trading. Additionally, the Fear & Greed Index is at 13, indicating "Extreme Fear," with 71% of traders expecting the price to fall to $1500. This consensus expectation has synchronized selling behavior. Concerns over Ethereum ecosystem funding crises and the delayed Glamsterdam upgrade, among other mid-to-long-term bearish factors, have also provided a negative narrative backdrop for short-term volatility.

Volatility risks remain. Key factors to watch include whether the critical support at $1520 holds, whether ETF fund flows improve, and the on-chain behavior of large holders. Users are advised to monitor more market information and be cautious of further short-term downside risks.
