EU Forces Google to Open Android AI Platforms and Share Search Data Under DMA

GOOGLG-3.85%
According to the European Commission, Google will be forced to open access to competing AI platforms on Android devices and share search data to enable interoperability, as part of new Digital Markets Act (DMA) enforcement measures announced recently. Currently, Google's Gemini receives exclusive preloading and system integration privileges. The EU says the measures affect approximately 60% of EU Android users who lack choice in AI assistants. As a designated "gatekeeper" under the DMA, Google must comply with the legally binding decisions, though the company claims the requirements may compromise privacy and device security.
