Hanwha to Split Aug. 1; Kiwoom Says Combined Market Cap Will Rise

According to Kiwoom Securities, Hanwha's combined market capitalization after its Aug. 1 spinoff is expected to increase from current levels, the brokerage said on July 29. The company will split into Hanwha (surviving holding company) and Hanwha Machinery & Service Holdings (newly established), with a split ratio of 0.756 to 0.244. Existing shareholders will receive 1.22 new shares per held share. Kiwoom maintained a 'buy' rating with a target price of 169,000 won; Hanwha closed at 86,800 won on July 28.
