HSBC Issues First On-Chain Structured Notes in Hong Kong Pilot

HSBC0.83%

According to The Defiant, HSBC completed its first digital-native structured product private offering in Hong Kong, with U.S. dollar-denominated notes issued directly on blockchain rather than digitized post-issuance. Marketnode served as tokenization agent and digital payment agent, managing fund flows between HSBC and investors.

The issuance is positioned as a pilot project to validate tokenization technology across the product lifecycle—issuance, settlement, and ongoing servicing. The bank did not disclose issuance size, reference assets, maturity, or blockchain details. This extends HSBC's broader digital asset strategy, which includes the HSBC Orion tokenization platform and retail gold tokens.
