Japan's Chief Cabinet Secretary Hints GPIF May Adjust Asset Allocation on July 13

According to Japan's Chief Cabinet Secretary Kihara Minoru, the Government Pension Investment Fund (GPIF) may adjust its asset allocation, as stated on July 13. Kihara said GPIF reviews its policy portfolio annually to manage risk and evaluates whether the investment environment has materially changed since its portfolio was established. If adjustments become necessary, the portfolio will be modified. This followed remarks by Finance Minister Katayama Satsuki on July 10, stating that encouraging households and pension funds, including GPIF, to expand investment in domestic financial assets is a top priority.
